Cabin AI is an iPhone app for chatting with AI models that run entirely on the phone. It still answers in Airplane Mode, and nothing you type or photograph leaves the device - the only network traffic is downloading a model you asked for.
Start in seconds
On an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, Cabin opens straight into a chat with Apple's built-in on-device model - no sign-up, no download. Open models from Qwen, Gemma and Ministral can then be added and run locally, and you can switch between them mid-conversation; the new model reads what came before and carries on.
What it does
- Photos - show a model a menu, a plant or a sign and ask about it.
- Thinking - models that reason step by step show their working, with an Answer now button to cut it short.
- Background downloads - models download while you keep chatting, with progress in the Dynamic Island.
- Fits the phone - Cabin checks memory and storage first, and only offers models the iPhone can comfortably run.
- One set of instructions - tell it once how you like it to talk, and every model follows.
Under the hood
Native SwiftUI on iOS 26, with Apple's Foundation Models framework for the built-in model and MLX Swift for open models. Each model is pinned to an exact Hugging Face revision and checksum-verified after download, and its sampling settings follow its maker's model card, per mode. No accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
